This cake is made with whipped cream frosting and lemon cake - so yummy and refreshing!

Elmo Cupcakes

These cupcakes were for a little boy turning 3! Gotta love Elmo! I thought they turned out soooo cute! And best of all, he knew exactly who it was :)

Easter Egg Stravagance Cake Class

The week before Easter I had a fun little get together with my aunt, my grandma and my daughter! We made Easter Cakes!!! We had sooo much fun, laughing and chatting with each other! We all made a few mistakes in the execution of our cakes, but the end result was some pretty tasty takes that didn't look too bad either!!! Well, I do have to admit, I helped my daughter with the baking of her cakes and cookies and accidentally burned one of her cakes, some of it fell off in the oven and was burning on the bottom lol! So, the end result was that some of the cookies tasted a little like burned cake lol! My family all thought that was pretty funny :)

This is my grandma decorating her cake!

My grandma's finished cake - she took a new approach to the cookies and put one on each side of the sucker stick - she covered the edge with buttercream frosting - the end result was an eXtReMeLy heavy cookie on a stick - but we did learn that candy melts can hold quite a bit of weight :)

This is my aunt Peggy decorating her cake.

My Aunt Peggy and her decorated cake :)

Ashlie frosting her cake!

Ashlie's final cake! Not too bad for only being 9!

Popcorn Cake

It's time for Popcorn at the Circus

This is a cake and cupcakes done for a birthday party for twins (boy & girl) turning 2! They had a circus theme, so I made the cake to look like a giant bag of popcorn. Definitely a big cake! 6 layers tall!!!

Then we made 1 dozen cupcakes to look like individual servings of popcorn.

Baptism Dress

This is a dress cake made for a good friend's daughter who was getting baptised. The cake is covered in fondant and I attempted to do the trip work all out of royal icing. However, when I started moving the royal icing pieces to the cake they just crumbled into pieces :( Major frustration! I knew they would be delicate, but there was no way. So, I accepted that that idea would work and instead did all of the detail work out of piped buttercream. I used the same design and I used for the royal icing.

Here is a picture of the royal icing lace I made that crumbled :( (Before it crumbled)

1st Cupcakes In The Park

We had a blast at Cupcakes In The Park! Not as many people showed up as I was expecting so I was kind of sad about that but we still had a great time with lots of yummy cupcakes! I liked the fact that people came regardless of whether they had home made or store bought cupcakes! They just came to have fun! I'll let you know when we are having another one! It will definitely be a do again!

Chester

My daughter loves horse back riding so for her family party I thought it would be really fun to make a cake that looked like her favorite horse Chester. It actually turned out pretty accurate, Chester has kind of a short face with bright blue eyes and black specks. We don't normally use a maroon bridle but that's okay. Lots of fun to make however she said that eating Chester was the worst part of the day. She said it just felt wrong lol! At least it was vanilla cake and not red velvet right???

Twilight Ice Cream Cupcakes

For my daughters 13th birthday we went with a twilight theme. I thought it would be fun to make ice cream cupcakes for her with a Twilight theme fondant topper. She had chocolate cupcakes with cookies 'n cream ice cream, a layer of buttercream frosting and then the fondant topper! Yummy!!!

Retro Mini Cupcakes

These cute little cupcakes were for a Children's Art Gallery function! So cute with the little retro circles! And the mini cupcakes were just the right size!

Pop Rocks Cupcake

Who would have thought that Pop Rocks candy could taste so good on a cupcake??? The popping in your mouth brings back all of your favorite childhood memories of eating Pop Rocks! Just like the package says, "Taste the Explosion!"

Perfect flavor for your next birthday party! It will bring out the child in all of us :)

Smurf Baby Shower Cake

This was a very funny baby shower cake. It was a smurf theme so I used Smurfette's house as a pattern. I made a little baby smurf to go in the basket by the doorstep. I think the baby smurf was the cutest part of the whole cake.

Marshall Wedding

This is a wedding cake for a good friend of the family. 3-tier squares stacked with roses in each layer. The topper wasn't there when I set up the cake :( All vanilla cake with buttercream icing.

Baby Shower for a Prince

This cake was for a baby shower for a baby boy. The theme was "Prince". It is a vanilla cake, lemon filling, and lemon buttercream frosting. The actual crown is made from marshmallow fondant but all of the piping was done with lemon buttercream.

The Cake Lady

So, in a moment of insanity (Wait, who am I kidding??? My life is constantly insane!) Okay, so one of my moments of complete craziness, I decided to start a Face Book page all about my cakes and cupcakes! My thinking was so that I could bombard that page with all of my yummies and keep my regular Face Book page about everything else. Is there anything in my life besides baking you ask??? Well, sometimes lol!

So, I'm having lots of fun as "The Cake Lady". I decided if I actually ever open a bakery that will be the name. I've toyed with lots of different names, "Let's Bake Some Cake", "Got Cake?" etc. Then I finally realized that whenever people talk about me to others who don't know me, they always refer to me as The Cake Lady. So I thought it was perfect! So, go find me on Face Book. After I created my page I realized there were also a few other Cake Lady's pages, mine is the one with a 2 tier Halloween Cake for the profile picture! Simply because I love Halloween :)

I had a little contest right after I started my page. All of my fans had to tell me what their favorite frosting was. I decided to pick the first person who said that one of MY frostings was their favorite, and they would get 1 dozen cupcakes with their favorite frosting for free! It just so happened it was one of my best friends who won :) So here is a picture of Tiffany's cupcakes, vanilla cake with peanut butter frosting :)

Wedding Cake 1/16/10

These are a couple of images I have of the finished wedding cake from this past weekend. This was a much different wedding cake than I've done in the past. Lots of fun and the colors were just beautiful together! Cake is covered in fondant with fondant butterflies and flowers. The designs on the butterflies were made out of royal icing.

It looks like the cake is extremely crooked in this picture, but I can assure you it was just the angle I took the picture :) I seriously need some photography skills lol!
