LadyBug Cupcakes

These sweet little things were for a baby shower! I took them to one of my events for the pick up arrangements and everyone wanted to buy one! I guess I should have made extras :)

Smurf Baby Shower Cake

This was a very funny baby shower cake. It was a smurf theme so I used Smurfette's house as a pattern. I made a little baby smurf to go in the basket by the doorstep. I think the baby smurf was the cutest part of the whole cake.

Baby Shower for a Prince

This cake was for a baby shower for a baby boy. The theme was "Prince". It is a vanilla cake, lemon filling, and lemon buttercream frosting. The actual crown is made from marshmallow fondant but all of the piping was done with lemon buttercream.

Baby Shower

These were really fun baby shower cupcakes because I got to try out a new technique. This is called fondant embossing. If you recall I blogged about this a month or so ago! These were really sweet. It is hard to see in the pictures but each fondant topper has a word embossed in it.

Brittany's Baby Shower

These are cupcakes I did for a baby shower. The theme was called "King of the Jungle" off of ezpartyzone.com. The products were adorable so I tried to kind of match the cupcake boxes to the theme and cupcakes. I think they turned out cute!!! I originally was going to make the buttercream frosting vanilla flavored and tint it brown, but I decided it would look too much like chocolate buttercream and so when everyone bit into it the flavor would be off because they would expect it to be chocolate. So, I just went with chocolate buttercream.

Cakes

I took the cake decorating classes through Michael's. This was my first attempt at a tiered cake.

I really enjoy making birthday cakes. I don't seem to stress as much about those :) This was a really fun one for my cousin. I used a coloring book and cut out the patter of Spiderman and traced the image onto the cake with a toothpick. I thought it turned out pretty good for my first attempt.

This was another cake for my class. I learned how to do the basket weave and I love it. I think it is really fun and really sets off a cake.

This is a baby shower cake I made for my cousin. For the flower stems on the sides I took uncooked spaghetti and broke them into various lengths. I used a large round tip and put it in a decorators bag with green royal icing. I would take the piece of spaghetti and push it through the opening of the tip into the frosting and then squeeze it back out and the spaghetti was covered with royal icing. After they were dry I attached royal icing flowers to them and made flower stalks.
