"You don't have to wait for a special occasion to enjoy a cupcake - although you might find that sharing a batch makes even an ordinary day seem that much more sweet."- Martha Stewart

Kaity's 7th Birthday

My daughter helped me make this cake for our cousin Kaity's 7th birthday! She had a luau theme. I had a ton of fun teaching my daughter many different techniques used in this cake! I thought she did a great job!

Wedding Cake

This is a 2 tier square cake covered in marshmallow fondant with shapes also cut out of fondant. The top was shaped to look like a baptismal font with "water" and fondant figures.

Popcorn Cake

It's time for Popcorn at the Circus

This is a cake and cupcakes done for a birthday party for twins (boy & girl) turning 2! They had a circus theme, so I made the cake to look like a giant bag of popcorn. Definitely a big cake! 6 layers tall!!!

Then we made 1 dozen cupcakes to look like individual servings of popcorn.

Baptism Dress

This is a dress cake made for a good friend's daughter who was getting baptised. The cake is covered in fondant and I attempted to do the trip work all out of royal icing. However, when I started moving the royal icing pieces to the cake they just crumbled into pieces :( Major frustration! I knew they would be delicate, but there was no way. So, I accepted that that idea would work and instead did all of the detail work out of piped buttercream. I used the same design and I used for the royal icing.

Here is a picture of the royal icing lace I made that crumbled :( (Before it crumbled)

Chester

My daughter loves horse back riding so for her family party I thought it would be really fun to make a cake that looked like her favorite horse Chester. It actually turned out pretty accurate, Chester has kind of a short face with bright blue eyes and black specks. We don't normally use a maroon bridle but that's okay. Lots of fun to make however she said that eating Chester was the worst part of the day. She said it just felt wrong lol! At least it was vanilla cake and not red velvet right???

Twilight Ice Cream Cupcakes

For my daughters 13th birthday we went with a twilight theme. I thought it would be fun to make ice cream cupcakes for her with a Twilight theme fondant topper. She had chocolate cupcakes with cookies 'n cream ice cream, a layer of buttercream frosting and then the fondant topper! Yummy!!!

Smurf Baby Shower Cake

This was a very funny baby shower cake. It was a smurf theme so I used Smurfette's house as a pattern. I made a little baby smurf to go in the basket by the doorstep. I think the baby smurf was the cutest part of the whole cake.

Wedding Cake 1/16/10

These are a couple of images I have of the finished wedding cake from this past weekend. This was a much different wedding cake than I've done in the past. Lots of fun and the colors were just beautiful together! Cake is covered in fondant with fondant butterflies and flowers. The designs on the butterflies were made out of royal icing.

It looks like the cake is extremely crooked in this picture, but I can assure you it was just the angle I took the picture :) I seriously need some photography skills lol!

Happy Birthday Jesus!

I saw this sweet cake on a website and absolutely had to do my own creation for our Christmas dessert. Little tricky cutting the fondant freehand but not too bad for someone who has NO artistic talents!
