Retirement Cake

This is a cake I did for a police sergeant retiring from the force. I enjoyed doing this cake because I got to do a few different techniques that I haven't done much before. I learned a lot along the way but was still pleased with the end result. The most important thing was that the customers liked it! That's always a good thing :)

It is a marble cake with buttercream frosting and then covered in marshmallow fondant. I used gold shimmer dust across the entire cake. The letters and designs are out of fondant also.

This was my first attempt at braiding fondant. I must say it is much easier to braid hair :) However, it was enjoyable being able to braid and not have someone yelling that I am hurting them!
