"You don't have to wait for a special occasion to enjoy a cupcake - although you might find that sharing a batch makes even an ordinary day seem that much more sweet."- Martha Stewart

Kaity's 7th Birthday

My daughter helped me make this cake for our cousin Kaity's 7th birthday! She had a luau theme. I had a ton of fun teaching my daughter many different techniques used in this cake! I thought she did a great job!

Mini Cupcake Bouquets

In honor of Mother's Day I made "mini" cupcake bouquets! They were so cute! Many people thought they were actually bouquets of flowers on the table until I explained that they were actually cupcakes!

It's Official!!!

Well, I am very excited to spread the word that I am officially a licensed caterer!!! I have been working for over a year trying to secure a kitchen that I could bake out of and become licensed so that I can participate in many different venues and I have finally found one! I went last week and paid the fee and am not licensed! My first real gig since I got my license was this last Saturday at an Open House featuring local women business owners. I had a great time and lots of opportunities to look forward to! Here is a picture of some of the items I had available for sampling as well as purchasing!

I had a couple of my most popular flavors such as Peanut Butter Cookie, Oreo Cookie and Lemonade (middle of the picture and bottom) and then I also debuted some new flavors including Jr Mint (right side of picture), Pineapple Upside Down Cake (Top of picture), and Pop Rocks (left of picture)! By far I think the most popular was the Pineapple Upside Down Cake!

This is a close up of the Jr Mint Cupcake which also received many compliments!

Easter Egg Stravagance Cake Class

The week before Easter I had a fun little get together with my aunt, my grandma and my daughter! We made Easter Cakes!!! We had sooo much fun, laughing and chatting with each other! We all made a few mistakes in the execution of our cakes, but the end result was some pretty tasty takes that didn't look too bad either!!! Well, I do have to admit, I helped my daughter with the baking of her cakes and cookies and accidentally burned one of her cakes, some of it fell off in the oven and was burning on the bottom lol! So, the end result was that some of the cookies tasted a little like burned cake lol! My family all thought that was pretty funny :)

This is my grandma decorating her cake!

My grandma's finished cake - she took a new approach to the cookies and put one on each side of the sucker stick - she covered the edge with buttercream frosting - the end result was an eXtReMeLy heavy cookie on a stick - but we did learn that candy melts can hold quite a bit of weight :)

This is my aunt Peggy decorating her cake.

Ashlie's final cake! Not too bad for only being 9!

Popcorn Cake

It's time for Popcorn at the Circus

This is a cake and cupcakes done for a birthday party for twins (boy & girl) turning 2! They had a circus theme, so I made the cake to look like a giant bag of popcorn. Definitely a big cake! 6 layers tall!!!

Then we made 1 dozen cupcakes to look like individual servings of popcorn.

Baptism Dress

This is a dress cake made for a good friend's daughter who was getting baptised. The cake is covered in fondant and I attempted to do the trip work all out of royal icing. However, when I started moving the royal icing pieces to the cake they just crumbled into pieces :( Major frustration! I knew they would be delicate, but there was no way. So, I accepted that that idea would work and instead did all of the detail work out of piped buttercream. I used the same design and I used for the royal icing.

Here is a picture of the royal icing lace I made that crumbled :( (Before it crumbled)

1st Cupcakes In The Park

We had a blast at Cupcakes In The Park! Not as many people showed up as I was expecting so I was kind of sad about that but we still had a great time with lots of yummy cupcakes! I liked the fact that people came regardless of whether they had home made or store bought cupcakes! They just came to have fun! I'll let you know when we are having another one! It will definitely be a do again!
